If you ask me when I started falling in love with Hello Kitty, I really cannot remember. Was it because of my fascination with the really cute Hello Kitty candies at the grocery store? Or was it the white Sanrio clothes cupboard I had since I was a baby? I can only fondly recall the fascination and childlike happiness I always felt and still feel today whenever I see that familiar friendly white kitty on almost the most amazing, creative and sweet products all over the world.
When I grew up, I remember the Mcdonald Hello Kitty incident that got so bad that Hello Kitty fans became touted negatively as crazy fanatics (but I din't like the plushes and din't get them...). And now as I grew older and the local collectors are also much more mature, I finally can afford to really start collecting the special figurines, kittified home furnishings and made-in-Japan classic editions I so love.
So if you ask me to sum up 10 reasons why I like Hello Kitty so much:
1. Hello Kitty reminds me of childlike innocence.
2. Hello Kitty reminds me of Japan - its wonderful land of cuteness, prettyness, history and culture.
3. Hello Kitty can never have enough friends!
4. Hello Kitty is the Japanese symbol of caring, sharing, love and friendship.
5. Hello Kitty promotes social communication without even a mouth all over the world.
6. I grew up with Hello Kitty.
7. Every thing looks so much sweeter and lovelier with Hello Kitty imprints.
8. Hello Kitty loves apples and strawberries - just like me!
9. Hello Kitty is one very creative Kitty, she comes in all styles, fashions, colours and seasons!
10. Hello Kitty is the classic Japanese character that has come a long long way since the 1970s.
